Scrappy Springtime Birdhouses

Have I ever said how much I love coordinated scrapbook paper? Well, I do. It takes a lot of the guess work out of designing. Almost whatever you do will look good together. I found this scrapbook paper set on sale for $3 and it came with 6 coordinating papers, stickers, punchouts, vellum...it was more than enough for what I needed with a lot to spare. I'm sure I'll figure something way to use the leftovers!I also found these adorable little wooden birdhouses on sale at the craft store and I had to have them, especially since they were on sale! I have been loving the bird trend lately and I instantly knew what I was going to do with them. All I did was cover the different surface areas of the birdhouses with different paper from the coordinating set I had. The only supplies I used was scissors, a paper cutter and glue stick. I have to say, it took FOREVER to get it all covered. Forever! Then I added some of the embellishments that came with the pack to spice it up a little bit. It looks beautiful and I love the results. But I think if I had to do it again I would have done one big birdhouse rather than five small ones.Right now they're sitting on top of the piano. In a perfect world I would put it up on the fireplace but last time I put something up there my toddler smashed one of my favorite figurines, right in front of my face. It was extremely painful to watched. I learned my lesson.

  1. I'm seriously impressed. That just sounds like a lot of work (cutting out that paper to fit those exact measurements...? wow). They turned out cute though!

  3. Adorable! It's so fun to see who comes to the linking party, and I'm so happy to "meet" a new crafter! Thanks so much for joining us and I hope you'll be back next week! And by the way, with five small houses you can use them as table decor on a long table! I did just that for a birdy birthday party a month ago!

  11. Honey, these are great!!! I have some birdhouses that I painted a few years ago and I really like them. But I have to say, these blow mine out of the water. They're beautiful! I love scrapbook paper too and I have a ton of it, and I don't even scrap. I think I'm going to try this on some mini-houses I have. Thanks for sharing with Life in the Pitts.
