Kendra here and I'm finally getting a moment amid life's chaos to sit down and really think about what are some of the goals I have for Belleza Mia this year.
To start off I am not great with goals, mainly because I get goal happy and go a little overboard making them completely unrealistic, setting myself up for failure. Then guilt sets in and I don't need that. No one does. That being said I am going to keep my goals short and simple. They are not so much goals but rather areas I'd like to focus on.
1.) Keeping my priorities straight. I started this business first as a creative outlet and then it turned into an actual source of income for my family which was very much needed while my husband, who was recently out of school, went through numerous periods of unemployment. In the past 4 years so much time and energy has been put into my little business, there has been many late nights and many, sacrifices from myself and family so I can do what I do. Along with that has come many blessings. This year I simply want to remember my priorities and while I absolutely love to create and do what I do, my family and my kids are my priority. Children are only little once and if I can move my time around so that I can read a book to one of my boys I want to. I have this saying up in my house and I want to live it!
2.) Simplify. This will also help me with keeping my priorities straight. As a creative person I love to try new things and I must confess I get distracted easily. Sometimes I feel as if my jewelry style is all over the place because I love it all but I have been feeling a need to simplify and streamline things. So while it will be hard not to want to make and sell every piece of jewelry that pops in my head I am going to do my best to create cohesiveness between my designs which I hope will not only lead to new creative designs but improve quality even more.
3.) Get pictures taken professionally. This one is probably my only 'checkable goal' of the year. Over the years as I have
had to learn how to take pictures of my pieces I have also had to learn
about a camera and how to take a decent picture. I'm not great and know
tons of people far better than I am but I enjoy it. The problem with this is that I am always behind the camera and so I want to find someone to
take pictures of me, my family (which is who I do all this for) and of
my office/studio so I can show off where all the magic happens.
4.) Keep doing what works. As I have been working on simplifying my designs and creating a cohesiveness in my shop I have found I want to continue doing things that work well. Like my rings, I was nervous at first they wouldn't sell but they have been extremely popular. So much so that I am planning on having pieces in silver as well as gold along with some new stones. I'm excited to see how the new designs look, so keep an eye out!
I am excited for 2014 and to see what changes will come about in the New Year!
I'm excited to see some silver pieces! I love your jewellery but don't wear gold.
