Non-Candy Valentines

I have a hard time imagining giving Valentine's without candy. I know it isn't nice but I remember going home with all my school Valentines, taking all the candy ones out and throwing away most of the rest. They were all little cards that come in the boxes you know, with the givers favorite characters on them, one was just like the other so candy was the thing that made the valentine memorable.

Things are changing though, not all schools let you send candy and some people don't want to encourage that much sugar, so the trick to me is to have memorable Valentines without the candy.

Most of these ideas can be found on our Valentine's Board on Pinterest but I figured I would share a few with you here. You can check them out for even more good Valentine ideas.

I love the ideas from A Spotted Pony, all the things needed for her straws, bouncy balls, and crayon valentines can be found at Target and she gives a cost breakdown of each one. They all come out to under $.35 each.

Every kid likes bubbles right? I'm not a huge fan of bubbles inside the house but my daughter will go outside even in winter just to blow a few bubbles. Apparently you can get bubbles 3 for $1 at most Dollar Stores.

The thing I love most about giving bubbles with these cute labels from Love Stitched is that they are in black and white so they won't use all your colored printer ink.

Have you made homemade crayons before? Spoonful has a great tutorial and Valentines seems a great chance to try.

I doubt we will give these away to friends but my daughter saw all these cute animal tutorials from Sassy Dealz and has been begging to make them. Luckily for her hearts are the base for all of them and hearts are something I can actually cut. We will probably make a few today for her to give her grandparents.

What do your kids give for Valentine's at school?
