This is part two of a three part tutorial on making your own pinata. You can find part one here.
When your pinata from day one is dry you can go ahead and do the next step. Last time I made one it took me two days to dry, but this time is was dry in a day and a half. There are a few factors, like the warmth of the room and how gluey it is. So leave yourself some time between each day.
Day two is basically a repeat of the day one, with only a couple differences. Mix your glue as before, flour with water until thick glue consistency and rip your newspaper into strips. You'll need more of both than you did with the first layer.
Using the same technique as before, dip a strip of newspaper into the glue and press onto the balloon. Making sure to cover the whole thing.
Hint: I've found it's hard to tell on the second layer where you have done already and which spots are showing through from below. It might be nice to do one layer in newsprint and another in ads to help with that. If you are unsure, cover it again.
You'll want the whole things to have at least two layers, near the top (or as my daughter claims, bottom) of the balloon, where the string is attached it's nice to do a couple extra layers. Make it thick there because it is where you will be attaching the stronger string later. It will be holding the weight of the pinata.
When done with the second layer, hang it to dry again. The whole process of the second day takes only about a half hour so it's pretty simple.
