Birthstone of the Month - July

My most favorite color in the world is red. It is so vibrant, it seems to scream passion at me. Not just passionate in the romantic way but also passionate about life. I just love it, which means I love July's birthstone, the Ruby.

Rubies are super durable, a 9 on the hardness scale for gems, the only stronger ones are diamonds and moissonite. Along with their strength they also have amazing color, red. To qualify as a Ruby they have to meet a min of red saturation, otherwise they are classified as pink sapphires.

Because Rubies are so tough and durable they are easy to take care of. You can clean them with warm soapy water and a soft cloth.
