My Crafty Life

The other night I got to thinking about when this whole crafting thing started, because it didn't just happen overnight. As I was thinking about it all I began to realize it has been something I have done since I was very little. Here are some highlights:

Whenever we decorated cookies/cupcakes I ALWAYS took 3 or 4 times as long to decorate mine and usually was doing some intricate design.

During my elementary school years I discovered and fell in love with Modge Podge. I used in on frames, flower pots, boxes, even chairs. Buttons, paper, beads, shells, fabric, you name it, I probably used it.

In third/fourth grade I had brought in a Christmas ornament I made and another teacher found out so I got let out of class to go teach her how to make it so she could show her class. I felt so special!

In middle school I was very in to beading and loved using the bead loom my grandfather had gotten me. I would call this my 'Native American Phase' I loved anything native American.

Also during my beading phase I made these tiny lizards (maybe some of you can remember them!) and 'took orders' from lots of friends. This was also when I got into hemp jewelry and wire. Thank you girls camp!

During high school I made a lot of clothing and got my very first sewing machine. I made prom dresses, homecoming dresses, costumes for plays....

In my collage years I began paper crafting and card making which led me to, you guessed it, scrapbooking!

Now I've put aside most of my scrapbooking supplies, though I do like a good papercraft project, so I can do my family blog and make jewelry. I have been doing it for a while now and am still loving it and learning lots of new things every day!

Also as a mom and have my own place to decorate and do what I will, I have found TONS of new things to create. The possibilities are endless!

Like I tell most people, crafting is my form of therapy. I wonder just how crazy I'd be without it....
