April! The month of my birthday and my daughter's birthday. It's a good month to be born I think. Sometimes we get Easter near our birthdays, spring is usually around to stay, and I've always loved that my birthstone is a diamond.

Diamonds are known for being super hard, they are one of the hardest stones. They can range from clear or white, almost to brown, but are most commonly found in clear or white color. The darker color it has in it the more rare and valuable it is.

Of course diamonds are harder to come by than many other stones used in jewelry so a common substitute for diamonds in April birthstone is crystal quartz. The coloring is the same as diamonds and although not as hard as diamonds they are a hard stone, which helps with durability and lasting.
