Easy Cape instructions

For some reason my two year old has been running around the house yelling "Superman to rescue!", it's very adorable. Who taught him about superman, I don't know. Probably his dad. Because of this we have tied towels and blankets around him so he could have a cape. He has LOVED flying around with a cape whipping behind him! When I saw how much he loved it, I decided to make a real cape for him, after all, every little boy needs a cape. After putting it off for a week, I had a flash of inspiration, why not use an old shirt? (I think I've been reading about upcycling clothing too much!). It took less than twenty minutes!

First find a red (or whatever color you want) shirt. Originally I was going to use a t-shirt but when I went to the thrift store only the polo was on sale, so I decided to go with it.

First cut the back off along the seams, leaving the hem on the bottom.
Shape it.
Cut the collar off. If you use a t-shirt you can just cut the neck band.
Cut the collar in half and sew the ends.
Now just attach the tie to the shirt.
Don't worry, it doesn't have to look pretty so you don't need to worry about any of the edges, unless you really want to.
What a super cape! Now let him fly, lift cars, whatever his imagination might inspire him to do, he'll LOVE it!
