Be Still

Recently I have realized that when I am stressed out for any period of time, that even when things have calmed down for me my body is still running in stressed out mode. I have to intentionally calm down.

I have mentioned before that I like to do anti-gravity yoga. The last part of the class (and I think the last part of any yoga class) is a time to just be still. The first time I went I was a little disgruntled at this because I figured I had paid for an hour and a half class, I wanted to be exercising for the whole time. I love it now. I hadn't ever given much time to sitting still and being quiet and I still have a hard time with it. Sometimes I need reminders to just be still.

Sometimes I need people to give me the time to be still. Here is a moment I am giving you. Researchers at the British Academy of Sound tried to find the most relaxing song. This one, called Weightless by Macaroni Union lowered heart rates and relaxed the participants of the studies the most. Take a moment and be still.

Here is a playlist of the top ten songs from their study.

Not all these songs do it for me, what do you think, are they relaxing? and how do you intentionally calm down?
